Jawbone UP Review: One Week In
I knew I lucked out getting lumped into the Jawbone UP beta tester program meaning a free $100 bracelet. What I didn’t know is that after one week, free seems like just the right value I’d put on the band. Here’s Why: Pros It’s a conversation starter Cons It’s not Bluetooth enabled. Removing the band to Sync is cumbersome and, while fairly quick, adds friction...

I'll Gladly Pay You $25 Now for a Dinner...
It’s Friday night and I need a dinner reservation for my family.  Lacking the foresight on such things, I am looking at 7:30pm for said reservation and coming up understandably empty handed unless 10:30pm is my ideal eating time. This isn’t a unique situation.  Reservations are made on a first come first serve bases across the board.  Plan ahead and you’ll be golden....

“”
–  The show went on sale at noon on Saturday, December 10th. 12 hours later, we had over 50,000 purchases and had earned $250,000, breaking even on the cost of production and website. As of Today, we’ve sold over 110,000 copies for a total of over $500,000. Minus some money for PayPal charges etc, I...

The Future of Social May Be Different Than We...
I was reading the interwebs this weekend and was diving into some posts on Fred Wilson’s AVC blog. He had posted an interesting presentation from George Colony – CEO of Forrester Research – from the Le Web conference in Paris, which I thought was an interesting, if not thought provoking, look into our “social” future. Some key points coming from the talk: Social Saturation: We are running out...

Steve Jobs Keeps on Insipring
“When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and you’re life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money. That’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that...

Paris' Bike Share Kicks Ass (Profanity Needed)
I was all the way across town off Rue de Sevres at Le Bon Marche after 6 hours or hiking around Paris and realized it was about to time to head home.  However, home happens to be a 45 minute walk to the Bastille.  With the desire to avoid cabs due to cost and subway due to lack of city viewing, I jumped on a local bike that are so ubiquitous around Paris and was off.   I’m not kidding...

"American" Food Should Need No Explanation
Living in NYC, as with most other major cities in the US, we’re seeing a resurgence of American food culture.  But this isn’t your hot dogs and American pie but rather an artisanal take on old classics. Great American chefs like April Bloomfield (Spotted Pig, The Breslin), Paul Kahan (Publican) and Dan Barber (Blue Hill at Stone Barns) are creating mouthwatering dishes that are uniquely American,...
